Changing the Nose – Male vs. Female

There are some minor differences in the aesthetics proportions between the male and female nose. Even-though these differences are subtle they are very important because they create the right balance that we tend to associate with feminine or male nose shapes.

Changing the Female Nose

Nose Surgery - Female
One of the primary differences between a male and females nose is the length. In most cases, a woman’s nose will appear to be shorter than the that of a man. As illustrated in red on the diagram, the starting point of the woman’s nose is lower on her nose than the starting point of the man’s nose. Looking at the second diagram, you will notice that the man’s nose starts closer to the forehead, giving the man’s nose a longer appearance.

Secondly, let’s discuss the bridge of the nose (blue arrow). A straight or slightly curved bridge is preferred for female patients. For men, a straight bridge, or even a small hump is associated with a more masculine look.
Lastly, let’s look at the rotation of the nose. The more a nose is rotated the more feminine it appears. So in men, a small amount of rotation is appealing, but too much rotation will appear feminine.
By following the green arrow we can see that her nose is more up-turned, it looks more feminine. His nose is less rotated, or less up-turned, making the appearance of the nose more masculine.
