The Laser Facial Procedure

The Photo Facial or the IPL (Intense Pulse Light) procedure, as it is also called, is a no-recovery, mini-procedure based on light therapy. High intensity pulses of light penetrate the skin removing skin imperfections without affecting the top layer of the skin. By not breaking the skin barrier, like Laser treatments do, no redness, blisters or other side effects are experienced with this treatment.
In the case of hair reduction, the high intensity light targets the hair follicle at its root, causing the hair to stop growing. Because of the specific affinity to hair pigment, the surrounding skin is not affected, making the treatment recovery free and eliminating the pain usually associated with waxing or electrolysis.

Laser Facial Process

During Your Photo Facial

Your eyes will be covered to protect them from the bright light emitted from the IPL. The area will be cleaned and a clear gel will be applied. The contact piece will be cooled with a cool spray and a super quick burst of light will be delivered to the target area. Most patients experience minimal to no discomfort during the photo facial treatment.
Depending on the area being targeted, treatments may take 15 to 40 minutes.

After Your Photo Facial

Since there is no real downtime you may resume your normal activities after a photo facial. Although rare, scabbing, blistering or slight bleeding is possible as is skin discoloration and scar formation. Also, you must protect your treated area from UV light, be it natural sunlight or tanning beds.
Some patients may not be candidates for photo facial, based on their skin or hair color. Only a consultation with your Dr. Siegel can determine if you are a good candidate. Multiple treatments may be required to treat your specific condition. Treatments are performed 4 to 6 weeks apart.
There are many clinics were treatments are provided by a technician. Dr. Siegel will perform all treatments.
